All options on the table, says Harawira
“When Dover says his mind is boggled at the possibility of the Maori Party working with National,”said Hone Harawira, Maori Party MP for Tai Tokerau, “folks up home just smile and say ‘yeah – don’t take much to boggle our Dover’.”
“But the truth is that the Maori Party is looking at all the options at the moment,” said Harawira. “The problem for Labour though, is that they’re looking more like a corpse than a partner at the moment.
“He’s right to be critical of National’s plan to get rid of the Maori seats,” said Harawira, “and for all the smiles, nothings changed since Don Brash was running the show.”
“But Dover should be trying to improve Labour’s shocking record on Maori issues,” said Harawira. “Labour voted to take the Treaty out of all legislation, they took the Treaty out of the curriculum, they voted against returning Maori land, and they tried to sell land still under claim.”
“Dover might do better to tidy up Labour’s act, rather than slag off the only party that might save their neck at the next election.”
