Toy Soldiers Sent To Middle East Says Peters
New Zealand First Leader
Winston Peters has questioned why Labour MP David Cunliffe
and National’s Richard Worth were sent to ceremonies marking
the 60th anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein in the
Middle East.
Mr Peters said the presence of Labour and National “toy soldiers” at the ceremonies was sickening when there were “real” former soldiers in the ranks of New Zealand First MPs.
“I want to know who made the decision to send a Labour and National MP to the Middle East. This is the sort of arrogant attitude that makes ordinary New Zealanders sick of the political process.”
Mr Peters said that all political parties should have been approached over the El Alamein commemorations and some more suitable candidates chosen for the trip.
