Media Release
26 August 2009

State-of-the-art cellphone care comes to Christchurch

Christchurch, New Zealand - Nokia has announced it will open a state-of-the-art Nokia Care Centre in Christchurch, bringing a new era of customer care to the South Island.

The new Nokia Care Centre, on Armagh St in Christchurch’s CBD, will open to the public on Monday 31 August 2009, and is part of a wider investment program by Nokia Care in New Zealand.

The centre is the second Nokia Care Centre to open in New Zealand in the past six months and cements Nokia’s position as the only mobile manufacturer to provide this level of direct customer care locally.

The Care Centre facility features a fully equipped technical workshop, an Internet kiosk providing free net access for customers, a full display of the latest Nokia accessories and a comfortable customer lounge and service area.

In addition to warranty and out-of-warranty repairs, staff at the Nokia Care Centre will be available to assist customers with other services including technical support, software upgrades, Nokia Gear and Nokia services sales, product training and education such as setting up navigation and email services, and offer advice on connectivity and getting the most out of their Nokia device.

Head of Customer Care for Nokia Australia and New Zealand, Peter Thomas, said: “The new Christchurch Care Centre underpins our commitment to New Zealand customers.

“Nokia Care Centres are all about providing our customers with the highest levels of service and advice,” Mr Thomas said.

Mr Thomas added that having a dedicated Nokia Care Centre means the majority of repairs can be conducted on-site providing faster turnaround times and better overall service for Nokia customers. It will also allow Nokia to offer local mobile phone retailers direct support with personal and timely service.

The Nokia Care Centre features a team of six fully trained and supported Nokia technicians and customer service professionals.
Customers are able to track their repair status online at www.nokia.co.nz/repairstatus or receive instant SMS alerts.
Nokia’s ‘Customer Charter’ will apply to customers serviced at the new Christchurch Care Centre. The Charter promises to resolve customer issues, when a customer comes into the Nokia Care Centre, within three business days or Nokia will provide that customer with a complementary and compatible Nokia genuine accessory. A full copy of the Nokia Care Customer Charter can be found at www.nokia.co.nz/support/customercharter.
