North Shore City appoints Roger Duncan interim CEO
November 21, 2002
In a decision fully supported by all parties, North Shore City Council last night (November 20) appointed Roger Duncan* as the city's interim chief executive officer with immediate effect, following the resignation of Rob Hutchison* earlier this week.
An East Coast Bays resident, Mr Duncan is the city's chief financial officer and joined North Shore City in 1992. The chartered accountant has had previous experience acting in the top role, including the three-month period from April 1998 before Rob Hutchison took over from his predecessor, Keven Tate.
Mayor George Wood* says Mr Hutchison will stay with North Shore City until Christmas and will work closely with Mr Duncan supporting key projects.
"This decision was mutually agreed between Rob, Roger and councillors, reflecting Rob's wishes and the need for a smooth handover," Mr Wood says. "We will start the recruitment process to find a permanent CEO as soon as possible, but accept that this will take time."
Councillors congratulated Rob Hutchison on his appointment as chief executive of Viaduct Harbour Holdings and wished him well for his next management challenge. [ends]
